Xeriscape
Xeriscape is the process of conserving water through creative landscaping, using indigenous and drought-tolerant plants. According to Eartheasy.com, over 50% of residential water used in North America is applied to landscape and lawns. Xeriscape can reduce water use by 50 to 75%. Xeriscape landscapes typically require very little maintenance, and watering requirements can be met with simple irrigation systems. Use of native plants will also eliminate the need for chemical supplements. And one of the best results is that the use of native plants, shrubs and trees offer a familiar and varied habitat for local wildlife.
